Discover Southern Morocco: A Day Trip from Marrakech

Join us on a journey of discovery as we explore the stunning region of Southern Morocco. Our adventure begins with an early morning departure at 7:30 am, heading towards the Tizin Tichka pass, which rises to a height of 2260m.

After crossing the pass, we’ll continue our journey towards Telouet before reaching Aït Ben Haddou, a magnificent village that has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We’ll begin our visit with a guided tour of the site before stopping for lunch.

Exploring Ouarzazate – The Gateway to the Desert

After lunch, we’ll make our way to the city of Ouarzazate, the cultural and economic hub of the region. Ouarzazate is renowned for its unique blend of High Atlas Mountains and the nearby desert, making it an incredibly popular tourist destination. The area is home to countless kasbahs made of pisé, mountains, dry plains, valleys, palm groves, and villages of red or ochre sand, all of which contribute to its charm and allure.

The symbol of Ouarzazate is the Kasbah of Taourirt, built by the Glaoui family in the 18th century. We’ll have the opportunity to explore this architectural marvel, as well as visit the cinema studios which are located in the city. Ouarzazate has become a favourite location for filmmakers from all over the world, with its popularity soaring in the 1960s after the production of Lawrence of Arabia, which was partly filmed in the Aït Ben Haddou site.

Return to Marrakech
