Tour Overview

Our Saghro Mountain Range trekking tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate, followed by a drive to the trailhead. Once there, you’ll meet your experienced guides and begin your trek through the Saghro Mountains.

As you hike, you’ll encounter unique rock formations, hidden valleys, and local villages. Your guides will provide fascinating insights into the geology, history, and culture of the region, and help you navigate the rugged terrain.

You’ll spend each night camping in the great outdoors, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Saghro Mountains. Your guides will prepare delicious meals for you, and you can relax around the campfire and gaze up at the starry night sky.

After several days of trekking, you’ll reach the summit of the Amalou N’Mansour, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Finally, we’ll return to Ouarzazate, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or riad.

Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou

Your adventure begins with a 9 o’clock departure in a 4x4 from Marrakech, making the journey across the High Atlas Mountains and over the famous Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m) pass. You'll have the opportunity to marvel at the breathtaking scenery along the way. After crossing the pass, you'll continue to descend until you finally reach Ait ben haddou where you will stop for lunch. From there, you'll cross another smaller pass, Tizi-n-Tinfifite, before reaching the head of the Dra’a Valley at Agdz. You'll go off-road along the ancient caravan route between the mountains and the river, passing many villages and gardens, so that you can gain a better idea of the way of life along the oases. Overnight at a local guest house in Nkob where you'll meet your team of muleteers and cook.

Day 2: Nkob to Ighazzoun n’Imlas

After breakfast, you'll depart from Nkob either by foot or by local transport to Handour, the little village of the oasis. From here, you'll start the trek through the Saghro, following the Iggy valley. You'll have a chance to admire the stunning natural scenery and explore charming Berber villages. Lunch will be in Tifdassine. In the afternoon, you'll pass the Alhyan peak and then make the descent to Ighazzoun n’Imlas (altitude 1290m), where there is the possibility of spending the night in a bivouac or in the home of locals.

Day 3: Ighazzoun n’Imlas to Igli

In the morning, you'll make an easy ascent to the rocks of Tadawte n’ Teblah where you will have lunch. After lunch, you'll pass through Tizi n’tegourte to Igli (altitude 1750m), where you'll stay the night in a camp.

Day 4: Igli to Bab n’Ali

Today, you'll walk through the valley of Bouwalouze, where you'll pass almond fields and small cultivated terraces. You'll have the opportunity to admire the stunning natural scenery and explore charming Berber villages. Lunch will be at the gorges. You'll arrive at Bab n’Ali and spend the night in a hostel. If there is time, you can visit a small waterfall nearby.

Day 5: Bab n’Ali to Nkob

After breakfast, you'll continue your trek, passing by some Quartz mines near to Nkob. Lunch will be at Tasawente Nousdidne or in the oasis. After lunch, you'll continue your journey until you reach Nkob, where your adventure will come to an end.
