Tour Plan

Start your adventure by being picked up from your Fez accommodation at 8:00 am. Drive to Merzouga Desert through Ifrane, a winter ski resort built in the 1930s by the French to resemble a Swiss village. Enroute, visit the Cedar Forest in Azrou, where you'll see monkeys and drive across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Enjoy the stunning views of beautiful forests, springs, rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards the Sahara Desert. Stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks, and continue towards Merzouga. During the drive, stop at panoramic viewpoints to see a huge oasis of palm trees. Upon arrival at Merzouga in the afternoon, relax with a cup of mint tea. Your guide and camels will be waiting for you to start a 2-hour camel trek across the sandy dunes of the Erg-Chebbi. Enjoy the beautiful sunset on the camel ride, and then arrive at the desert camp to spend the night in a Berber tent. After dinner, enjoy a campfire and drums playing before retiring for the night.
Wake up early and take a walk over the sand dunes to watch the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border, about 50 km from Merzouga. Return to the hotel on a camel back, have breakfast, and relax. Take the opportunity to take nice pictures. Then, take the road toward the gorges, departing along the road used by the Paris Dakar rally. Visit a cave to discover how the local people extract fossils from the heart of the earth. Stop at Rissani, the town where the Alaouite dynasty established, and see the monument historic of Sijilmassa, the big center of desert trade, and the Kasbahs (village fortify) in the area. Also, visit the Moulay Ali Charif Mausoleum (the founder of the Alaouite dynasty), the Lfida Museum, and the souq (the big market of the area). Continue passing through the Ziz Valley and Gorges and have a walk in the Todra Gorges to enjoy the beauty of rivers and mountains. Finally, reach Dades Gorge for dinner and overnight in a nice and traditional Kasbah.
After breakfast, take a walk in the gorges to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Then, visit the town of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah of Taourirt, and the Atlas Studios movie studios, the largest and most famous of all Africa. Next, head to the Fint Oasis near Ouarzazate and take the Tizi-n-Tichka road, stopping for lunch in a small village before continuing on to Marrakech.
