Famous Limited International Airports in Morocco to Know
About Morocco : International Airport
Morocco is a country located on the northwest Atlantic coast of Africa. It is so close to Spain that, on a good day, you can actually see it from across the Strait of Gibraltar.
There are several airports in Morocco, but the 2 main international airports are Casablanca (CMN) and Marrakech (RAK).
Direct flights from Montreal, Toronto, Washington and New York are also available. Marrakech is only a short connection away, but it is also very accessible directly from several hubs in Europe, so transit via London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Lisbon and of course Paris is not uncommon.
EasyJet connects the UK with Marrakech, Fes, Agadir, Essaouira, and several smaller airports are well served by smaller airlines. Ryanair and Air Arabia will also make it easy to get to Fes from all over Europe. From Europe, it’s also easy to get to Fes.
Tangier is easily reached by air. It is also accessible by ferry from several ports in Spain and other European ports.
Flight To Morocco: Travel To Morocco
Most flights from North America arrive in Casablanca early in the day, giving you a chance to enjoy a slow day upon arrival with a walk around the Hassan II Mosque and a short 1 hour drive to Rabat for the night. It’s a nice start for the journey. Flights from Europe frequently arrive in the early to mid-afternoon.
The easiest way to get around Morocco is by private car once you are there. This eliminates the need for additional navigation and the challenges that come with getting to some of the more remote areas. In the north of the country, however, there is a brand new high-speed TGV train. It runs from Tangier to Rabat and Casablanca. And regular trains south to Marrakech.
Today, as in ancient times, the Atlas Mountains pose a challenge to travel in Morocco. Camels don’t cross the mountains well, forcing merchants to switch to donkeys to transport their goods once they reached Ouarzazate in the south. The same is true today with the train system that ends in Marrakech and from there you can take a public bus to almost any destination in the south of the country.
Plan Your Trip To Morocco with Moroccan Berbers Roaming
When planning your trip, the first question we will ask you is: Where will you arrive and depart from? While it is very common for our friends from Australia and North America to arrive in and depart from Casablanca for long international flights, we always recommend that you arrive in one city and depart from another city if it’s possible for you. This helps to optimize your time at your destination. For example, you could have an arrival in Casablanca or Tangier and a departure in Marrakech. Or the other way around. If you have the time, you can make a very nice “loop” around the country and really get a taste of everything. For example, in 6 days you can do a nice trip from Casablanca to Marrakech with time in Fez and the Sahara. Places like Chefchaouen, Essaouira, Taghazout, Taurodant, Ourika valley, Imlil and so on can be visited in 14 days. It will also give you the opportunity to spend a few nights in different places along the way to explore them a little bit more in depth.
In the end, the best place to be in Morocco is the place of your choice. You just have to come here! We’ll handle the rest of the details.
